Listed on the document below is David Shoemake who appears as a witness
in a court case. Dated in September 1814.

The following was posted on the Internet, Shoemate Family Genealogy
Forum by:: Karen Spengel on April 20, 2004. The information is not documented.
The information listed below shows a David Shoemate
with his children being born in Tennessee. That means he was in Tennessee
at the time of their birth. It also shows that one child, RICHARD STANFORD
SHOEMATE, b. March 8, 1828, was born in Bledsoe County, Tennessee. Better
still, it shows that Stephen Shoemate, son of David was born in Tennessee
between 1800 and 1810.The above court documents show a David Shoemate
appearing on Court Documents of Bledsoe County Tennessee in 1814. If the
following information is true, then there is strong reason to believe
that this is the same David. As of this date, we still wonder who his
father was. If this be the same David as listed in the court documents,
there is strong reason to believe that this may be the same David that
appears on the South Carolina census rolls of 1800.being between 16 and
26 years of age. This would have made him to be born between 1874 and
1884.
If I was to guess at who his father might have been,
I would select Samuel. The reason is that Samuel, who was living in Chesterfield
County SC in 1800, later moving to Tennessee, according to the Federal
Census of SC, he had one male under 16 and three between 16 and 26. John
the brother of Samuel had three sons under 10, and one son between 10
and 16. This David would fit into the age bracket of one of Samuel's sons
between the age of 16-26.
If David's first child, a son, Stephen Shoemate,
listed as being born between 1800 and 1810, I would assume his father
would be more than likely between the age of 20-30 years of age. Now deduct
this age away from 1800-1810, and it will fall into the age bracket of
being born between 1874 and 1884.
It is believed that David, after the death of Samuel
Shoemake, who it is believed to be his father, moved from Tennessee. Some
have said he moved to Missouri.
